📰 Mexico Events November 2026: Festivals & Travel Tips
Our Mexico Events November 2026 guide brings together festivals, shopping, holiday plans, and travel tips. Día de Muertos celebrations are wrapping up, but Mexico is still busy. Here’s what to look out for this month.
Whether you live in Mexico or are planning a visit, here are a few things worth knowing about this month.
🎈 León’s International Balloon Festival Is Almost Here!
From November 13–16, the skies over León, Guanajuato, will fill with hot-air balloons during the city’s annual International Balloon Festival.
More than 200 balloons are expected, including some shaped like animals and popular characters. Pilots from around the world will take part.
The balloons begin taking off around 6:30 a.m., so you’ll need an early start to catch the best views.
In the evenings, the Noches Mágicas events light up the festival grounds with glowing balloons, live music, and entertainment.
This year’s concert lineup includes Los Ángeles Azules, Calvin Harris, and Christian Nodal.
If you’re thinking about going, book your hotel early. It’s a popular event, and balloon launches depend on the weather.

🛍️ El Buen Fin: Mexico’s Biggest Shopping Weekend
Mexico’s annual shopping event, El Buen Fin, runs from November 13–17.
Like Black Friday in the United States, El Buen Fin is a time when stores across Mexico offer big discounts to attract shoppers.
If you’ve been thinking about buying a new appliance, television, phone, or something else for your home, this could be a good time to shop.
Just remember that not every sale is a great deal. Check prices ahead of time so you know whether you’re actually saving money.
Some stores also offer payment plans. Be sure you understand the terms before signing up.
You can find more information on the official El Buen Fin website.
📅 A Long Weekend for Mexican Revolution Day
Mexico celebrates the anniversary of the Mexican Revolution on November 20, but this year’s official holiday falls on Monday, November 16.
That means a three-day weekend for many people.
Expect popular travel destinations and highways to be busier than usual. Some banks and government offices will also be closed.
If you have important errands or travel plans, it’s worth checking schedules ahead of time.
📚 Guadalajara’s Famous Book Fair Turns 40
The Guadalajara International Book Fair, better known as FIL, returns November 28 through December 6.
This year marks the fair’s 40th anniversary, and Italy will be the guest of honor.
FIL is one of the largest book fairs in the world. Visitors can meet authors, listen to talks, browse books, and enjoy cultural events.
And you don’t have to be a serious book lover to have a good time. There’s plenty to see and do.
Adult admission starts at MXN $40. Check the schedule before visiting, as public hours vary.

🌦️ Hurricane Season Isn’t Quite Over
Even though we’re in November, the Atlantic hurricane season doesn’t officially end until November 30.
Storms are less common this late in the season, but they can still happen.
If you’re traveling to Cancún, the Riviera Maya, or other areas along Mexico’s Caribbean and Gulf coasts, keep an eye on the weather.
It’s also a good idea to check your airline’s updates before heading to the airport, especially if storms are in the forecast.
For reliable weather information, visit Mexico’s National Weather Service or the U.S. National Hurricane Center.
🏙️ Destination Spotlight: León, Guanajuato
Since León is hosting the balloon festival this month, let’s take a closer look at the city itself.
León is famous for its leather goods and shoe shopping, but there’s much more to discover.
Its historic center is a great place to spend an afternoon. You’ll find beautiful old buildings, lively plazas, local shops, and plenty of places to stop for something to eat.
Two of the city’s best-known landmarks are the Basílica Catedral and the Arco de la Calzada.
León is also a good starting point for exploring other parts of Guanajuato.
If you’re visiting for the balloon festival, consider staying an extra day or two to explore the city.
🌶️ A Taste of León: Have You Tried a Guacamaya?
Despite the name, a guacamaya has nothing to do with guacamole!
It’s one of León’s favorite street foods, made with a crusty bread roll stuffed with crispy pork rinds, fresh vegetables, lime, and spicy sauce.
It’s crunchy, messy, and full of flavor.
You’ll find guacamayas at street stands and local food spots throughout the city.
If you enjoy trying foods that are special to different parts of Mexico, this is one to add to your list.
